Engraved Commemorative Brick Order Information

Engraved Commemorative Bricks Fundraiser

The Friends of the Van Alstyne Public Library is proud to be offering year round ordering of Engraved Commemorative Bricks!  The proceeds from the sale of the brick goes to help your local Van Alstyne Public Library.  This brick fundraiser is a wonderful way to commemorate a loved one, celebrate a special day, celebrate a special person in your life, provide a testimonial, or to just be a part of the city you call home.

There are two parks in Van Alstyne where you can have an engraved commemorative brick, Dorothy Fielder Park and Eula Umphress and Robert Hynds Park.  Here’s some information about each of these amazing parks:

Dorothy Fielder Park – 107 N Main Drive, Van Alstyne

You’ll find Dorothy Fielder Park in Downtown Van Alstyne on the corner of E. Jefferson and N. Main.  This downtown park is a beautiful & relaxing spot to rest as you explore downtown Van Alstyne.  Mature trees provide plenty of shade to cool off during the hot summer months.  The decorative fountain has several benches where you can enjoy a snack.  There is even a large gazebo as well for enjoying a picnic in the shade.  If you look down while strolling on the brick walkway you’ll notice that Van Alstyne has engraved bricks along the path.  Some of these bricks are about 35 years old and they are wonderfully unique and fun to read!  Explore Dorothy Fielder Park and see the stories told in the bricks!

Eula Umphress and Robert Hynds Park – 810 S Dallas Ave

You’ll find Eula Umphress and Robert Hynds Park parking lots on S. Dallas Ave and Kelly Lane in Van Alstyne.  The cross street to the park is Houston Street.  This beautiful 24-acre park just opened to the public in the beginning 2025.  The park has a 3-acre stocked fishing pond and as you walk around the pond you’ll find benches where you can enjoy the lake and also read the engraved commemorative bricks.  You’ll also find additional benches along the walking trails surrounding the park and playground where you can discover more commemorative bricks.  This park has a wonderful covered pavilion with picnic tables to escape the hot summer sun. A large playground for kids of all ages with shade too!  You’ll find bathrooms and plenty of wide open green space in the park.  Take a walk in the park with your dog, your kids or your friends and be sure to stop and read some of the stories on the commemorative bricks!
